Digital Blus' first album, Kind of Blu, houses a team of liquid/deep drum & bass artists that come from a variety of locations and record labels, coming together for one reason – the love for rolling, dancefloor-moving drum & bass. Indulging in the many cultures and scenes across the world, we've brought together a roster of artists from Poland, Russia, Brazil, Austria, Turkey, and Serbia; representing the likes of LuvDisaster Records, Good Looking, Influenza, Liquid Brilliants, Kos.Mos, V Recordings, Jazzsticks and so many more.

A. PAUL SG & JAY ROME – PHELEESHA
Classic Jay Rome and Paul SG business as we’ve all come to love. Horns, rolling breaks and a gentle male vocal introduce the drop. Organic basslines and forward driven vibes make way for the “slow down.” Female vocals enter the arena and the break brings it down while the horns stay in tact upon floating pads. Drums build as the male and female vocals interact. Another build. Another drop with all parts intact.

B. UNDERDOG – ANTILOVE
Authentic basslines, female vocals, articulate breaks and a simple piano line open this unique number. Hard amens rush into full gear following the one minute mark. The midpoint of Antilove brings the funk, while the breaks change to a simplified intensity atop the bassline. The original breaks kick in to finish out this unique song.

C. ALEXUS – JAZZMAN
Rolling breaks and a duo of synth lines open up this number, creating an enticing melody. Around the one-minute mark, the breaks filter out to allow the rhodes progression to shine. The ‘Jazzman’ makes his vocal entrance, following a luscious bass riff. The breaks go back to being full bodied and a bit harder. A bit of play with different amens and a bit of choppage exposes a great opening for the sax to enter. As the break hits, pads open up the heavens, before those heavy amens smash forward next to picked bass euphony.

D. DAVID WS – MOODNIGHT
Liquid brilliance brought to the front by Brazilian artist, David WS. Classic breaks, bass and a samba-like feel, bring strings, pads, and other glorious sounds out to play. Vocal samples interlace the tune and fade off into the distance, while the love within builds. Such a simple tune (in a great way), but so enticing that you might want to play this until the end.

E. JAY ROME & NATURAL FLAVOR – BLUEBERRY HILL
Another track from the label boss, this time alongside Innerground Recs artist Natural Flavor.Blueberry Hill’s intro gives me the image of an old style diner, packed with conversation, good food, and good friends. Rhodes chords, synthesized strings and catchy breaks ‘smash’ into a stylish vocal, keys and a break switch-up. Grinding and dance-floor savvy, the sax style in the backdrop might sound a bit familiar to you. We recommend that you stay around for the second drop. This tune is just too good to leave!

F. EUPHORICS & DOC – LAZY BREEZE
Beautifully layered from its genesis, Lazy Breeze houses a variety of melodious ingredients that open the door to an overabundance of soul-soothing breaks. Vocals interlace the background while the theme crescendos and decrescendos like the ocean. The break houses keys and winds, creating a meditative state for the listener. Once meditation is over, the breaks come around once again. One last piano chord ends the piece.

G. NUMMIX – LAND OF THOUGHT AND FLOW
Land of Thought is a perfect reminder of the golden days of jazz ’n bass. Rhodes chords and keys light up the night, while the breaks dance into a filter. An accented baritone saxophone takes the stage and remains the star, as piano stabs hit in the background. Accompanying wind parts can be heard towards the back of the stage. As Land of Thought goes deeper, muted trumpets, flutes, guitars, and bass take up the forefront. Perfection.

H. CARTER – LEAVE TO GET (ANDREZZ REMIX)
Pianos drift on the essence while ethereal vibrations begin to build. The drop comes, accented by robotic sweeps, and laser-type sounds. The image received through the music leads one through the pyramids of Egypt to dance with the Gods and Goddesses. At times, glints of sunlight can be seen through the ceiling. This balance of ‘dark’ and ‘light’ leaves some mystery for the crowd, and a perfect piece to get down to.
