about

Digital Blus has always been at the forefront of the smoother styles of drum 'n bass – liquid, deep, rolling tunes that know exactly how to hit the bass bin and get the floor moving. Kind of Blu Part II is no different. Comprised of 18 tracks (nearly two hours of play!) balanced nicely between friends that have already had releases on Digital Blus; and those who are just stepping on board, there is more than enough content to sway too regardless of your preferred style.

Emphasis & Unvariable – I Need You is a minimal, chilled out stepper. Soundcycles – Makes A Change is a feel-good piano stepper with inspiring lyrics Great for an opener. Carter hosts a duo of releases on the album, Life is a Spiritual Thing has a raggae-bass vibe infused, while With You (featuring Salem) takes it down into classic piano-laced liquid styles.Underdog comes through with beautiful breakbeat programming on In the Wine. Rizla, Krot and La Meduza bring that soulful, downtempo vibe while LaMeduza's vocals hit the speakers. Think of Uncut's legendary anthem from 2001 – Midnight. This one has THAT sort of impact. Yes yes! Following up, Label owner Jay Rome comes through with a collaboration with longtime label mates Paul SG and DJ Chap on Waya – classic liquid as expected. Euphorics – Syncopa is a mysterious one – an early jazz style ting rocks out the intro while the ladies sampled bring an explosion of energy. Decon brings the remix treatment to Underdog's Smile, rolled out in a deep and thoughtful way. Smooth with bass that moves, the remix is superb.

New recruit Rafau Etamski entices the crowd to Follow Me through deep, soul-moving drum 'n bass. Deep sub-bass will have floor movers blissed out here. Nummix's Sea Fever would be a great closer to any night with its uplifting jazz-funk vibes. Cnof does a great job in combining that 70s disco feel with an uplifting beat on One I Love before Ivoree & Natural Flavor drive the vibes deep into the underground with Find A Way. Capsika's Gopnik Funk begins with a half time feel, before catapulting into a smorgasboard of sounds and textures.

Jay Rome rolls through solo on Backyard Boogie, a super funky, and instrument-laden track. Pure ecstasy – bound to be a dancefloor anthem in the future. MsdoS & Funkware give us an Introduction to Brass in this catchy number. As we come to a close, Mode Function dives into the Soul Heart with classic jazz and bass. Seductive keys and slow-moving trumpets move out alongside the vocal before the drums attack, and send the floor into the dance.

Last up is Twintone's I Try Bossa. Going all the way back to the first release, longtime producer Twintone, gives the classic a revamp – a perfect way to chill out after 17 other tracks of greatness.
